Afforestation
The Objective of Afforestation initiative is to improve the green cover in the city, to improve the biodiversity in the region and to create awareness about the importance of protecting trees and offering a habitat for birds, insects and other living beings.
On 5th August 2018 Eco Society India commenced its afforestation programme. As part of the afforestation programme 250 Palm seeds were planted in Sembakkam lake bund in an effort to strengthen the lake bund and to create awareness on Sembakkam Lake protection and importance of palm tree.
On 23rd September 2018. Eco Society India in collaboration with Heritage Jayendra Nagar House owners association organized a mass tree sapling planting event today. Over 100 native tree saplings with medicinal and timber value where planted enthusiastically by children, men and women from Heritage Jayendra Nagar in Sembakkam.
